Description

Starting from Zogno and arriving in Piazza Brembana, this delightful cycle route opens up the vast natural and cultural heritage of the Brembana Valley for discovery. The path, weaving its way through breathtaking natural surroundings, was largely created by utilizing a disused railway which was interrupted on March 17th 1966 after 60 years of service. With the beauty of the mountains and foothills for company the route passes close to villages and towns in isolated locations, such as Oneta or Cornello dei Tasso where time seems to stand still while exuding a remote charm,. The main towns have centres where you can important monuments of art, among which is the sumptuous San Pellegrino Spa built in Art Nouveau style. One of the cycle path’s great attractions is its historic tunnels which have been specially restored and illuminated. A truly unforgettable experience.

Suggestions

The minimum width of the cycle path is about 3m which includes the cycle-path line markings, however this width is reduced to about 1 m to allow access to a bridge near Ferdy’s holiday-and-restaurant farm in Lenna and at the 'Bridge of goats', again in the village of Lenna. The width of the barrier separating the cycle path and the road is not less than 0.50 m. The average gradient of the cycle path is low (maximum 5%) as dictated by the needs of the old railway and therefore easy for cyclists
