The oratory of S. Alberto is located on a coast overlooking Cusio and the Averara Valley, along the road to the pasture areas and mountain pastures. A solitary and lonely building, this oratory was erected in the 15th century, on top of an older chapel, with a dedication to St. Albert, a Sicilian Carmelite, indicating how far the influence of monks and hermit congregations reached our valleys.
The medieval church was enlarged and embellished with stucco and marble in the 17th c., while the bell tower was raised in the 19th c. At the presbytery beautiful is the painting of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, as is the ‘fresco depicting St. Simon Stock receiving the Carmelite habit, works dated to the second half of the 1700s, as is the painting of the Angel at Prayer. The paintings depicting the troops of the Crusades at the conquest of the Holy Land, an epic very dear to the religious orders, including the Carmelites, are interesting, works by an anonymous 17th-century author.
From ancient times the St. Albert Oratory was greatly endowed with legacies and mansions and was governed by Mayors and Treasurers.
