The observatory of the Orobic Pre Alps was inaugurated in 1999 and was the first observatory in the province of Bergamo. It’s a modern structure funded wholly by member of CAB and used for research and education. The observatory can be found in Ganda di Aviatico (path for Mount Poieto) and is equipped with a Newton-Cassegrain 50 cm diameter telescope with 20cm refractor.
It is advisable to take a torch and warm clothing even in the summer as part of the observation is held outdoors. From the car park take the path up to the observatory (300 metres). During the months of July and August CAB organises numerous meetings in both the evening and daytime (in order to observe the sun) . Entrance is open to all, free of charge and there’s need to book!
