The parish church of Santa Maria Assunta in Foppolo is of ancient history and birth. There is older evidence from 1492 of a church, little smaller than a chapel, sufficient to accommodate a population of shepherds and breeders, mostly transhumant with their livestock. A simple nave building with a chancel raised a few steps and a gabled roof, unfortunately always subject to avalanche hazards, which destroyed parts of the church several times. In 1575 the church had 3 altars: the Major, with frescoed fornix and apse; the altar of the Madonna with ancient sculpture; and the altar of St. Anthony, the protector of domestic animals.
Outside the church there were two other altars that were immediately removed.
Attached to the church was the curate's residence and all around the cemetery.
Renovation of the ancient church took place in the early 1700s. In 1904 the bell tower was raised and equipped with as many as 5 bells.
Very significant are the works of art in the church, also referring to many artists of the past century: frescoes, stained glass windows canvases wooden sculptures.
