Village Of Pusdosso

Pusdosso
Isola Di Fondra - Pusdosso

Description

Pusdosso is the higher hamlet of the five that constitute the Isola di Fondra's mountain hamlets: Cornelli, Pusdosso, Foppa, Forcella and Via Piana, connected each other with a loop track. The village, located on the slopes of M. Torcola, is reachable just on foot through a path that starts from 709 m. above the sea level at valley floor, then you get to 1039 m. of the hamlet.
It's composed of a few stone houses very close to each other, a square that was recently restructured and a church named to Saints Valentin and Pantaleone.
In 1950 there were about sixty people, but over the years the hamlet suffered a gradually depopulation, until today where there are just two permanent residents.
The ruins of a lot of iron's mines testify an important past from the point of view of working. The "Amici di Pusdosso" association takes care of keeping the place alive by planning several times a year some demonstrations and by handling to mantain safely the paths.
