Arch of Pegherolo

The Pegherolo Arch is a spectacular and extremely rare natural geological conformation: a large arch carved into the mountain, a “hole” in the rock tens of meters in diameter, perfectly framed by the alpine landscape. Its monumental shape, sculpted over thousands of years by the combined action of erosion and weathering. The Arch can be reached by following the path that starts from the Church of Piazzatorre, a route immersed in fir and beech forests, a path considered quite challenging. The hike offers glimpses of the village and surrounding peaks along the way. Once you reach the Arch, you are faced with a true natural balcony, the ’area is ideal for photographs, short stops and appreciating the power of the natural processes that have shaped these mountains. The trail is usable year-round , but the is recommended to be hiked especially from March to November.
