The trail begins by ascending from Nembro. At the first roundabout, turn right and, after about 250 meters, take Via Salmeggia, heading towards the hamlet of the same name. At the beginning of the climb, turn right again following the signs for trail 514.
The path begins with a short descent of steps, crosses a small valley, and gently ascends to reach the charming Sanctuary of Madonna del Perello, a place dear to tradition and immersed in the quiet of the woods.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Perello has its roots in 1413, the year in which – according to tradition – the Virgin Mary appeared to a farmer from Sambusita while he was mowing hay on this solitary hill. The building houses precious frescoes from the same period, a testament to the intense religious sentiment that immediately accompanied the site of the apparition.
In front of the entrance, on the right, the path begins, descending through a dense wood and then along panoramic meadows until it reaches the houses below the town of Rigosa.
Once you reach the paved road, turn right and follow the path for about 3 km, comfortably returning to the center of Selvino. A simple and pleasant itinerary, perfect for a half-day of nature, spirituality, and relaxing landscapes.
Remembering that cycling is not allowed: if you choose to do so anyway, it's important to avoid peak hours – such as summer Sundays – and always yield to pedestrians.
