The itinerary begins in San Pellegrino Terme, near the first station of the old railway, now transformed into a pleasant cycling path. Cycling north, the cycle path crosses the Brembo River and leads to San Giovanni Bianco, accompanied by picturesque views of the riverbanks and the valley landscape. The next section is one of the most charming: you enter the tunnels of the former railway, where plays of light create a unique atmosphere, while upon exiting, surprising panoramas open up on the historic village of Cornello dei Tasso, one of the most precious in the Brembana Valley.
Upon reaching Camerata Cornello, the cycle path ends, and you cross the Brembo again, taking the road that climbs towards Portiera. From here, a constant ascent begins, leading to the area of the ancient mines, a place rich in history and evidence of the valley's mining past. After passing a metal barrier, you continue on a quiet dirt road that gently climbs up to Dossena, where the landscape opens up, offering wide views of the surrounding mountains.
From Dossena, continue cycling towards Corone, following the road that begins to descend and traverses scenic slopes until you reach Lepreno. After the village, a rural road runs along the entire southern slope of Mount Gioco, immersed in woods, clearings, and unexpected views of the valley. This quiet and evocative stretch leads to a small chapel, the point where the final descent begins.
From here, you can reach the village of Santa Croce. Past the church, a splendid historic mule track descends sinuously towards the valley floor. The path, with its ancient cobblestones, dry-stone walls, and stretches through the woods, gently leads back to San Pellegrino Terme, closing a loop rich in panoramas, history, and nature. An ideal itinerary for those who wish to discover the Brembana Valley from a slow and authentic perspective.
