This spectacular loop route runs on the slopes of Mounts Arera and Grem, two of the most iconic peaks in the Orobie Mountains. From Valpiana, start pedaling in the direction of Oltre il Colle until you reach Zambla Alta, passing the Plassa locality, where you will encounter the striking Vegetal Cathedral, a naturalistic work set among the mountain slopes.
Continue to the S.A.B.A. Refuge, from which a cattle-track climbs with increasingly open views to the Capanna 2000 Refuge, a historic foothold on the slopes of Arera. From the hut, follow CAI path 237, heading toward Baita Zuccone di Grem and then to Baita Camplano, crossing high-altitude pastures where, in summer, edelweiss and other botanical species typical of the Orobic environment bloom.
The last stretch to the summit of Grem requires pushing the bike, but the effort is amply rewarded by a breathtaking panorama encompassing the entire Orobie mountain range. Back at the pass, climb back in the saddle to reach Baita Mistri and, keeping to the left, pedal along a short grassy ridge on trail 263. You then descend on the opposite slope to the Third Baita di Grem, continuing along a sheep-track that leads to two characteristic mountain cottages.
Follow CAI 223 to Sinele, from which a smooth cartroad leads back to Zambla Pass. The last section of the itinerary crosses the beautiful plateaus of Pian della Palla and Pian della Mussa, following cross-country trails, until it gently leads back to Valpiana.
A complete and fascinating route, ideal for experienced bikers looking for high altitude environments, unforgettable views and all the wild charm of the Orobie.
