Starting from the saddle leading to the village of Salmezza, which is easily reachable by car, take the path that opens up on the left, between meadows and stone walls. After a few minutes of walking, you will reach the small Church of San Barnaba, a charming rural construction that introduces you to the typically mountainous environment of the area. After passing the little church, the route becomes more challenging with a rather steep, but short, climb that quickly leads to the striking grassy ridge of Mount Podona.
From here, the view immediately becomes open and airy. The path continues along a rolling limestone ridge, characterized by more exposed sections that require caution, but without particular difficulty. To the left, you overlook the sunny plateau of Selvino, while to the right, the vast pastures of Salmezza open up, a mosaic of meadows, clearings, and old huts that tell the area's agricultural history.
Continuing to ascend along the ridge, you reach the summit of Mount Podona (1270 m), a natural balcony with splendid views of the lower Seriana Valley and the surrounding foothills. Continuing for a short stretch, you arrive at its forepeak, easily recognizable by the metal cross and wooden benches that invite a panoramic break. From this point, the view expands towards Selvino, the ridge of Mount Purito, and the small villages that dot the valley, creating a truly picturesque scene.
