The Anticima on which the Maurizio Ferrata is developed is the secondary peak located at an altitude of 1900 m, located east of Monte Croce and an integral part of the limestone massif of Monte Alben. Viewed from the northern slope, this peak immediately appears unmistakable: two imposing rocky buttresses, incised by deep channels, rise like a natural pyramid toward the towers that guard the summit. It is a wild and little-visited environment, characterized by rugged nature and not immediate access, making it particularly fascinating for lovers of the most authentic mountains.
The ferrata climbs the northeast slope, first following the large right-hand rocky base, an articulated section full of vertical passages, and then tackling the walls of the summit towers, where the progression becomes more aerial and spectacular. Reaching the upper compartment, an easy but very scenic ridge, interrupted by small towers and short exposed sections, leads to the notch that connects with the Via Normale, the traditional route from the Forca up to the summit of Monte Croce.
It is important to remember that the Maurizio Ferrata is an itinerary reserved for experienced hikers, to be tackled only with full and certified equipment for via ferrata progression: harness, ferrata set with dissipator, helmet, gloves and appropriate hiking shoes. The severe environment and technical nature of the route require attention, experience and adequate preparation, giving in return an unforgettable adventure in one of the most spectacular corners of Mount Alben.
