Description

If faced with a spirit of adventure and with the right enthusiasm , this corner of Brembana Valley will remain among your fondest biking memories." The wild Val Parina " without deviation follows the path marked CAI 259 which from Zorzone leads to Piani di Scalvino. The start is in the Via Piazzo car park in San Pellegrino Terme. Follow the Brembana Valley cycle path to Ambria then turn into the Serina Valley navigating the characteristic gorges towards Passo di Zambla. Cross Algua and Serina, continue onto Oltre il Colle in the direction of Zorzone. A downhill dirt road leads through the woods to the junction with the CAI path. Go past the white chapel of Petta and continue to the farm cottages in Prati Parina. Continue to Scalvino where you must deal the most technical stretch. At the terminus of the old railway continue on to Bocca di Parina, then go through a sandy clearing up the hill to the holiday-farm Ferdy . The cycle path brings you back to the starting point.


Suggestions

This route is a real adventure which requires physical fitness and technical skills important due to the changing terrain which alternates between ups and downs with sections of exposed cliffs which require thrust from your mountain bike and maximum concentration (sections in Scalvino are very dangerous with series of vertical grooves and scree slopes, there are some safety chains however it is advisable to dismount and proceed on foot). There are no alternative routes, there is no signal coverage for mobile phones and you do not meet other people. It is completely isolated and without any possibility of receiving help. It is therefore imperative to organise the trip in a group, leave information about journey times, take all necessary materials in case of the need for repair and to be sure of good weather and dry ground.
