The itinerary begins by conveniently parking your car in the hamlet of Piazzo in San Giovanni Bianco. From here, continue on foot for about 400 meters along the road leading to San Gallo, until you reach the entrance to the Valle del Piazzo. At this point, there is a well-marked path on the right that enters the woods and gently climbs towards the characteristic village of San Pietro d’Orzio.
Upon reaching San Pietro d’Orzio, where the splendid parish church is worth a stop, the route offers several possibilities. One of the most evocative consists of continuing toward the rural village of Grumo, from which a pleasant descent begins, allowing you to return to San Giovanni Bianco by crossing two of the most fascinating historical centers of the Alta Valle Brembana: Cornello dei Tasso, the cradle of imperial couriers, and Oneta, known for the famous House of Harlequin.
Alternatively, from the crossroads near San Pietro d’Orzio, you can opt for a scenic return trip via the Sanctuary of Costa San Gallo, a beloved spot for its tranquil atmosphere and expansive views of the valley.
The trail, well-maintained and without particular difficulties, is also suitable for mountain biking enthusiasts, who can enjoy a varied route rich in natural and cultural insights. An ideal itinerary for those who want to combine nature, history, and perfectly preserved small villages.
