Ecomuseum

Valtorta Ecomuseum

The Valtorta Ecomuseum is based in the historic House of the Magistrate's Court, a 15th-century building that still preserves rooms and atmosphere of the past.
The museum was established in the 1970s at the behest of the mayor and parish priest, with the goal of preserving valley culture and traditional crafts.
Inside are reconstructed rooms typical of former dwellings, such as the kitchen with the stüa, the bedroom, and the tailor's shop.
There are also several craft workshops, including shoemaker's, carpenter's and blacksmith's.
The exhibition brings together numerous tools related to rural life: agricultural tools, spinning and weaving tools, and everyday objects.
The museum is part of the “Le Terre dei Baschenis” project, a system of widespread ecomuseums dedicated to the history and crafts of the Upper Brembana Valley.

The visit allows visitors to discover a community that has been able to transform ingenuity, labor and simplicity into a rich cultural legacy.
