Thermal Spring and Drinking Room

The San Pellegrino Terme Hot Springs have been known since the early Middle Ages, even appearing on a map attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, drawn between 1482 and 1512. Although some therapeutic indications date back to 1799, in the early 19th century the springs were still little known and the village considered of little importance. The turning point came in 1848, when the Palazzolo and Salaroli families built the first spas. In 1901 the Stabilimento dei Bagni and the elegant Sala Bibite, richly decorated with Pompeian frescoes and connected to the Casino by an elegant arched portico, were inaugurated. The main springs-Palazzolo, Salaroli and Fonte Vecchia-spout at the foot of a dolomite cliff and offer water of constant composition, pure and naturally stable at 26°C. Numerous chemical analyses between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries classified these waters as sulfate-bicarbonate-alkaline-earthy, particularly indicated for disorders of the stomach, intestines, liver, biliary tract, metabolism and urinary system. In 1992 the “Vita” spring obtained official recognition of its therapeutic properties, used in treatments such as mud baths, baths, inhalations and whirlpools. For decades the spa housed advanced specialized centers, including facilities for respiratory and motor pathophysiology and a renowned center for the treatment of rhinogenic deafness, equipped with modern diagnostic and rehabilitation techniques. The activity was supervised by university scientific committees that ensured its seriousness and effectiveness. To complete the experience, a spa park with music, bars and cultural spaces made the stay pleasant and full of recreational opportunities. Today, the spa tradition continues in renewed form: the Fonte room is part of the evocative wellness path inside the wonderful QC Terme spa, which combines contemporary comfort and Art Nouveau charm, keeping alive the link with San Pellegrino's centuries-old history.
