Pizzino Horns

On the Corna di Pizzino, the rocky spur that dominates the Taleggio Valley from above, stood since the 14th century a castle documented in ancient maps preserved in the State Archives of Milan. Its naturally defensive position allowed it to control the routes and mule tracks that connected the villages of the valley, making it a strategic garrison and at the same time a symbol of power. Over the centuries the fortress, linked to the turbulent events of the Middle Ages, was gradually dismantled and transformed, until it shrank into the forms that still survive today. The tower-house, which remains as a testament to the ancient layout, is the clearest sign of this history intertwined with the landscape.
From the top of the Corna the view opens over the entire valley, restoring to the visitor the suggestion of a place where nature and memory still guard the soul of the medieval castle.
