Monte Zucco, or Monte Gioco, rises between Val Brembana and Valle Serina as an elegant grassy pyramid visible even from Dossena. The classic ascent starts from San Pellegrino and reaches Spettino, from which you climb a small valley to Baita la Forcella. From here follow the trail on the west ridge, which, with a few zig-zags, leads to the col below the summit and finally to the summit at 1,366 meters (4,760 feet), topped by an iron cross and overlooking a panorama from Arera to Alben. The Fancy Mountain Group has recently completed, with the support of the Bergamo CAI, the signaling of a new route accessible to all: trail 598A, the first official trail on Dossena territory. The trail starts from Corone and offers two possibilities: an almost flat route to the meadows of the Spettino fork, passing under the Corna Rondanina cliff, or the panoramic ascent along the ridge. Both routes rejoin forming a pleasant “periplo del Gioco,” well-marked and suitable for hikers of all levels.
The mountain is also accessible in winter, but only to experienced hikers with appropriate equipment; during the winter season it is also advisable to contact the huts in advance to check if they are open.
