Lake Fregabolgia is located in a basin to the right of the dirt road that climbs from Carona to Rifugio Calvi, about 15 minutes before reaching the refuge.
It is an artificial lake. On the western shore is the dam built in 1953, 190 meters long and nearly 60 meters high.
Its waters, piped into Lake Sardegnana through a tunnel, are used to generate electricity.
