Village of Pusdosso

Pusdosso is the highest hamlet of the five that make up the “mountain hamlets” of the municipality of Isola di Fondra: Cornelli, Pusdosso, Foppa, Forcella and Via Piana, which are interconnected by a loop trail. The hamlet, located on the slopes of Mount Torcola, can only be reached on foot via a mule track that leads from 709 m asl at the valley floor to the hamlet's 1039 m asl. It consists of a few stone houses very close together, a recently renovated square, and a church dedicated to Saints Valentine and Pantaleon. Animated by about sixty people in the 1950s, it has suffered gradual depopulation, until today it has only two permanent residents. The remains of some iron mines testify to an important labor past. The Friends of Pusdosso Association, has been working for several years to make the place come alive, organizing several events a year and taking care of keeping the trails safe.
