Borgo Tagliata

The Borgo di Tagliata, which can be reached from Costa Serina via two roads branching off from the Sanctuary of the Forcella-the narrow municipal road that retraces a section of the ancient Via Mercatorum and the easier provincial road 27-retains a discreet and authentic charm. Once an important center of the Serina Valley, it boasted its own administration, a cemetery in the locality of Ponticello, the church in Córegn and even a factory with a kiln for the production of cóp and bricks. The administrative structure changed in 1815, when, after a brief interlude as an autonomous municipality, Tagliata was permanently annexed to Costa Serina. Today the hamlet is almost uninhabited: in 2025 only two people permanently reside there, and the district comes alive mainly in the summer. In the same year the Borgo di Tagliata Literary Prize was born, awarded for the first time to Marco Visinoni. A testament to local devotion remains the small church dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, rebuilt in 1836 on the remains of an older chapel, simple and collected, with a small three-bell tower that still watches over the silent valley.
