Gabanelli Museum of the Arts

The Gabanelli Museum of the Arts, located in the former Palace of the Justice of the Peace in Zogno, houses a rich collection of paintings, sculptures, sacred objects, liturgical vestments and handicrafts dating from the 1300s to the 1900s, distributed in 12 rooms and the garden. The same building also houses a photo library, historical archives and a library with an important antique collection.
The exhibition itinerary, organized by theme, is spread over several floors:
Ground floor: twentieth-century works, with sculptures by Brolis and Meli, paintings dedicated to Don Giulio Gabanelli, ancient historiated roof tiles and a nineteenth-century bell, as well as religious and landscape paintings by Bergamo artists.
Second floor: 15th-16th century frescoes, the 1686 organ from the Martina Square church, and two rooms dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, with Renaissance works, roundels of the Mysteries of the Rosary, and precious wooden sculptures.
Second floor: works on the life and Passion of Christ, including Cifrondi's Deposition and medieval crucifixes; followed by the collector's room and the room dedicated to Don Gabanelli, with drawings, votive offerings, and personal items.
Third floor: the Triduum ray with wooden angels, liturgical vestments, sacred vessels, an ancient altar and works depicting Franciscan popes, bishops and saints. Ancient bells, a wooden Moses by Meli and a rare high relief of the martyrdom of St. Lawrence complete the itinerary.
The museum thus represents an articulate and valuable journey through the history of sacred art and popular devotion in the Brembana Valley.
