The Ecomuseum is neither a simple building nor a circumscribed place: it is the entire municipal area that constitutes it, from the historic village to the mountain pastures, whose identity, peculiarities and usability it enhances.
The Ecomuseum Centro Storico - Borgo Rurale di Ornica, established in 2009, immediately involved the entire community with the aim of ensuring the preservation, conservation and promotion of the local rural culture over time. A commitment that passes through the recovery of the traditions, trades and ways of life that have shaped the village over the centuries, starting with the redevelopment of the historic center and pastures.
The heart of the Ecomuseum is the territory itself: a heritage made up of tangible assets - such as medieval buildings, churches, thematic routes, the educational farm and various meeting places - and intangible assets, such as knowledge, tastes, tales, habits and ancient crafts. All these together represent the most authentic identity of Ornica and its people. The community, in fact, is both the protagonist and the guardian of the Ecomuseum: only through its active participation can it exist, because it is the community that over time has shaped the landscape, created the heritage and chosen to take care of it through a shared pact.
