The Dream Caves are small underground formations, consisting of 3 chambers, located above San Pellegrino Terme. Although they are smaller and more cramped than the better-known caves, they run vertically for about 60 meters. To allow visitors to pass through, tunnels have been dug, the entrances to each room widened, and suspended walkways installed.
Their discovery dates back to 1931, when Ermenegildo Zanchi, an enthusiastic speleologist, noticed a small hole in the ground and therefore decided to rappel down into it. After about 12 meters he reached the first room, and from there he began his exploration; amidst difficulties due to tight spaces, he managed to locate two more rooms. Before long a convenient opening was made, to which they added another in the 1940s. These two openings still exist, as they were at the time. The Dream Caves were opened to the public in 1932, becoming the first valued tourist attractions in Lombardy.
Today to visit the Caves is accessed by guided tour of about 30 minutes. To check availability and make reservations: www.road470.com
