The Madonna del Carmelo Church in Oneta (San Giovanni Bianco), was built around 1473 by the Grataroli family and today dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, preserves a valuable artistic heritage, including two 17th-century paintings by Carlo Ceresa.
The building, oriented according to liturgical tradition, is preceded by a small vaulted churchyard flanked by a portico with frescoes and side access. The facade has a raised portal and stone-framed windows, while the interior, with a single nave, shows bays marked by Ionic pilasters, cross and lowered barrel vaults, and several stucco works.
The raised chancel houses a wooden altar with three niches containing statues and a painting of the Child Mary. Next to it are a choretto and sacristy, connected to the bell tower area. The church is part of the “Open Churches” project of the Mercatorum and Priula Cultural Pole, which aims to enhance small churches in the area, often closed but guardians of important treasures signed by Ceresa and Baschenis, among others.
