The Church of Our Lady of the Salette is a small neoclassical-style church located on a plateau on the right side of the ancient village of Cavaglia in the Brembilla Valley. It was built in 1901 on the site where a shrine dedicated to St. Martin already stood.
As early as 1859, on the initiative of Don Pietro Rota, a small chapel consecrated to Our Lady of the Salette had been built. The painting of Our Lady was brought by emigrants from Cavaglia returning from Grenoble, France, a locality linked to Marian apparitions that occurred in those very years.
Twice a year, on the last Sunday in January and on August 15, the traditional feast dedicated to Our Lady takes place, characterized by the ancient custom of the enchantment of the throne and the procession of the statue along the streets of the district, moments of strong participation of the local community.
A museum of agricultural implements has been set up in the premises adjacent to the church, offering visitors the opportunity to take a journey into the past and rediscover some aspects of the rural life of the people of Cavagliano.
