Holy Trinity Church

The Holy Trinity Church in Dossena stands along the historic Via Mercatorum, a network of medieval paths that arose spontaneously and only later defined by scholars by this name. This route connected Bergamo to Valtellina via Dossena itself and, from there, allowed to reach the Grisons and central Europe, thus becoming a fundamental commercial artery. The construction of the church probably dates back to the 14th century, although there are no certain documents; the earliest records concern rebuilding work in the 1500s and an enlargement that took place in 1600.The building is simple and small in size, with a sober exterior that lacks decoration. The plan is quadrangular and has a portico open on one side only, while the roof is gabled. Despite its simplicity, the church represents an important historical testimony to the mercantile passage through Dossena for centuries.
