Dossena's Beak

Dossena's “Becco” is a footbridge with free access and free overhanging cliff of about 250 meters. The Becco, so called because of its shape, is located at Culmine del Paglio, two kilometers from the village: it is a 16-meter overhanging footbridge with views of Val Parina and Mount Ortighera. The work was designed by the Studio “Fontana&Lotti Lorenzi - Ingegneri associati” and built by the company Fitzcarraldo SRL with an intervention that lasted about 1 year. The project was created with the aim of creating a vantage point that allows to complete the enhancement of the system of mining areas of Dossena with an open-air view of the rock, an element that characterizes in “underground” the path of disused tunnels and in the process of arrangement.Crossing the “Beak” you will feel the thrill of walking in the void and admiring the immense “Wilderness area”, that is, an area that has remained wild and untouched by man for decades. The “Parina” stream, from which the valley derives its name, is a particularly striking environment that characterizes its stretch with several spectacular karst phenomena such as “giants” potholes" made of white marble. The Wilderness Area falls partly within the limits of the Orobie Bergamasche Regional Park, about half of it (the southern slopes of Mount Ortighera).
