Weekend exploring the Cheese Valley
The edition returns “Discovering the Cheese Valley”, the three-day ecotourism event dedicated to promoting the dairy tradition of Valle Brembana. A unique territory, capable of producing four DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) cheeses and several Slow Food presidia in a not particularly large area: authentic gastronomic excellences that encapsulate stories of alpine life, culture, and the traditions of local communities.
This year's weekend will take place in the villages of Ornica, Valtorta, and Cusio, offering guests the option to stay overnight, by reservation, at the "albergo diffuso" (scattered hotel) managed by the Ornica nel Cuore Cooperative. The initiative offers encounters with interesting dairy realities, new trekking routes, and untold stories related to the territory.
Each day will be dedicated to a different cheese, with specially designed trekking routes in the production areas, for an immersive experience combining nature, taste, and tradition.
Note well. It will also be possible to participate in individual day trips.
April 24
Discovering Ornica: trekking and dinner with local products.
April 25
Valtorta: trekking in the production areas of Formai de Mut DOP, among ancient mills and pastures. Visit to the Social Dairy and cheese tasting.
April 26
L'Agrì meets blueberries: trekking on the Iron Path between Ornica and Colle della Maddalena, with a visit and lunch at a farm.
The proposed itineraries are easy and at a tourist level; participants will be accompanied by local guides. Detailed logistical information and technical sheets for the routes will be provided at the time of booking.
For those coming from outside the area and interested in experiencing the “Valley of Cheeses,” Val Brembana is located about 20 km from Orio al Serio Airport (Bergamo). You can contact the organization for information on possible shuttle services to and from the airport or Bergamo train station.
