An opportunity to discover the village of Cornello dei Tasso (Camerata Cornello), the place of origin of the Tasso family, known worldwide for the literary work of Torquato Tasso and for the entrepreneurial skill of some of its members, who founded and managed the European postal service for centuries.
Cornello is a medieval village located in the Brembana Valley, in the province of Bergamo. It stands on a rocky spur overlooking the Brembo River, and is still accessed on foot today.
During the Middle Ages, it was an important market center, thanks to the passage of the Via Mercatorum, which connected Bergamo to the Alta Val Brembana. The village owes its name to some members of the Tasso family, considered the founders of modern postal communication.
Route type
For visiting the village: walking on cobblestone pavement. The path is outdoors so we recommend comfortable shoes and suitable clothing for the season. The access space to the bell tower is narrow and consists of steep flights of stairs.
