The Museo dei Tasso e della Storia postale presents itself to the community and the public with a new exhibition, the result of a renovation project that has affected the exhibition spaces and the museum’s heritage narrative. The new itinerary unfolds within three buildings in the village of Cornello and builds its narrative around three narrative nuclei: the territory, the history of the Tasso family, and some aspects related to the history of information transmission.
We start from Cornello and Bretto, places linked to the origins of the Tasso family, to discover the history of the two villages and the traces that the family has left in the territory.
From here the story opens up to Europe, following the events of the Tasso family who, at the service of emperors and monarchs, contributed to the organization of the modern postal system. The journey also delves into the family’s presence in Bergamo and its surrounding area.,
through a map that invites to discover the places where this story is still recognizable. Moreover, the presence of a multimedia table invites to explore the genealogy of the Tasso family and to follow its events in time and space.
The tour continues to explore the changes that have transformed our way of transmitting information over the centuries. Through objects and documents, the museum takes visitors from the world of couriers and mail travel, through the physical media of communication to the birth of the postage stamp and the technological innovations of the twentieth century. The final section is dedicated to collecting and Mail Art, the art of postal writing.
We would like this new path to become an opportunity to share stories, a space where the museum’s narrative can meet the experiences of those who visit it and give rise to reflections that can continue beyond its halls.
The renewal also concerns the reception area, which is open to everyone and dedicated to sharing and participation. A place to stop, read, play, participate in the museum’s activities, or simply to take a break.
